I have always had a passion for make up from the dramatic to the subtle, and I have always been fascinated how the simple stroke of a brush can enhance or completely change the appearance of someone’s face. When I was a student I would lock myself away for hours on end trying to copy the make up from magazine covers, over and over again, until I perfected it.
Every feature on the face is important as is an understanding of how and when to enhance, shade or highlight. Make up should always be beautiful and the skin should look like skin so the eyes, lips and/or bone structure can be made to stand out, regardless of how natural or dramatic the finished make up is. Good make up starts with good skincare that is appropriate to an individuals concerns and needs, using products that deliver the right combination of non-irritating ingredients to benefit the skin. For me it is all about the skin, and then you can just add colour!
I have over ten years experience in the fashion industry and I would describe the style that I have developed over the years as editorial. I obtained my professional qualifications from a leading make up school in London where I trained under the guidance of leading figures in the fashion world including the much sought after educator and make up guru David Horne. After qualifying I worked for a leading cosmetics brand for a number of years picking up a vast array of experience working on make up counters in the South East and London, I eventually progressed to their Events Team and supporting high profile events in the capital and across the whole country, such as London Fashion Week. I have also had my work published nationally and locally and I have worked on commercial, fashion and advertising campaigns, while maintaining a busy private client base.
As a Make Up Artist I want to be able to share my passion with my clients and provide them with an exemplary level of creativity, technical skills and make up hygiene. Using an extensive range of make up and skincare from leading brands in the industry, every product used has been thoroughly tested for longevity and reliability whether eye make up, lip products or even an airbrush foundation.
Ethics in cosmetics is an issue that I am passionate about and I will not knowingly use any products from brands who test on animals, or allow a third party to do so on their behalf.
I am now based in my home county of Cumbria the Lake District and I can easily travel to see clients across the whole of the North West, as well as maintaining my established links in London and the South East.
I have also developed a passion for photography having worked with numerous amazingly talented photographers in studios, on location and at weddings. I am now developing this skill further so that I can offer clients an enhanced service by offering portrait photography, engagement photography and even some wedding photography too.
